Parliamentary Committee  discusses different issues

The Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy held its first meeting within the autumn session on September 20.

The meeting participants considered several issues, including draft laws on the approval of the agreement "On cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Kazakhstan in the field of quarantine and plant protection", "On stimulating insurance in agriculture" and on introducing amendments to the law "On fauna."

The agreement between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan was signed within the framework of the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Azerbaijan in April 2017.

The document was undersigned by Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov and first deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin

The draft law "On stimulating insurance in agriculture" will be discussed in December within the autumn session. The state has worked with the IFC on the draft law.

Currently, the government provides subsidies for agricultural insurance, but their coverage is very small.

The purpose of introducing amendments to the law of Azerbaijan “On fauna” is to bring this law into line with the law "On Science".

Under the law, scientific studies of the animal world will be carried out by appropriate scientific institutions, organizations and financed according to the law "On Science".

The Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy held seven meetings during the spring session in 2017, while14 laws and decisions were adopted.

The autumn session of Azerbaijan’s Parliament started on August 30. The committees' meetings began on September 12.

The first plenary meeting of the autumn session is scheduled for September 30.
