Milla Jovovich impressed by Baku, wants to come back

By Nazrin Gadimova

World-famous Hollywood star Milla Jovovich, who has visited Baku to shoot a TV commercial for Milla, Azerbaijan's leading dairy producer, has shared her impressions of the Azerbaijani capital.

The actress expressed her admiration for the architecture of Baku, highlighting the remarkable combination of antiquity and modernity.

"I've already told my friends that there is stunning architecture here," Jovovich told the local media. "Antiquity and modernity are beautifully combined in the looks of the city. Just walking around the city is enough to come up with an opinion about the antiquity of your culture. Here I've seen buildings which we will never see in America, with very unusual combinations that can cater to the most selective tastes of the public. Just the view from the window of my hotel room is a whole lot!"

Jovovich said the mentioned commercial was shot in the background of various historical and modern attractions of Azerbaijan and the audience will see it this fall.

"Unfortunately, I had very little time. I know for sure that I would like to come back here, but not for work. Especially since everybody here speaks Russian. So, I don't have any language barrier in your country. Most of your fellow citizens I met during my stay in Baku were from the production crew. I had a good time in a company of these people. Your people always smile, they are always in a good mood," she said.

The famous actress also spoke about her desire to visit Baku again.

"During the four days that I was here I mostly worked. And I was around people for whom I am a Hollywood actress. But I would like to walk around the city, go to the country. If poeple stop recognizing me, I would be able to relax in your beautiful country. I wanted so much to walk along the boulevard more! I even wanted to get lost in your city!" Jovovich said.

The actress was delighted with the nature of Gabala, which also hosted the shooting process.

"Oh, it's so beautiful! It was awesome! The mountains! I really wanted to take a backpack and go hiking in the mountains!" she said.

Jovovich also spoke about her work, family and shared the secret of her beauty with the readers.

Advertising agency Bruketa&Zinic OM Baku and Milla company have been preparing this campaign and working on arrangements for Mrs. Jovovich's trip to Baku for the past four months. Helena Rosandic, managing director of Bruketa&Zinic OM Baku, said that the company is delighted to have Milla Jovovich in Baku.

"We came up with the idea while we were looking for a brand ambassador that would reflect the brand values of Milla - premium, healthy and innovative," Rosandic said. "We found Milla Jovovich to be the perfect fit. We believe this strategy will strengthen our client's image as high quality dairy products that consumers can trust. In the last few years we had many famous visitors in Baku, but this is the first Hollywood A-class celebrity brand endorsement, proving Azerbaijan's emergence as a progressive and rich marketing environment."

An American A-class celebrity who gained international recognition starring in movies like "The Fifth Element", "Resident Evil", and "Return to the Blue Lagoon", Jovovich was born in Ukraine to Russian and Serbian parents and considers Russian her mother tongue. She has endorsed and modeled for many well-known global brands and is now continuing her acting career while focusing on musical projects and her own production company as well.
