Colorful metal barrels delight Bakuvians

A series of events dedicated to the Day of the National Flag will be held in the Art Gallery in Icherisheher on November 9.
Azerbaijan celebrates National Flag Day on November 9.
Back on November 17, 2009, this day was declared National Flag Day by a Presidential decree.
Since then, Azerbaijanis all over the world have celebrated this day.
The events are organized by the Office of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher" and the NGO Arts Council Azerbaijan, Trend Life reported.
An exhibition of handmade products within Art weekends project, an open-air event with the participation of young artists and much more awaits Baku residents from 11:00 to 17:00.
Colorful metal barrels will be also put on display.
The head of Arts Council Azerbaijan Dadash Mammadov said that metal barrels are a waste material, their export and recycling are not cheap.
"The project creates an opportunity for their ecological use and development of the creativity. The metal barrels are very elegant and modern, they fit well into different architectural styles. These compositions, painted in different styles, become an excellent addition to the urban landscape," he said.
Earlier, local artists have turned barrels into beautiful pieces of functional art within an environmental art-project "H. E. Art", aimed at greening of Baku.
The project allows to use metal barrels in an environmentally responsible manner as well as to develop creative thinking. Bright painting ideas turn metal barrels into colorful and beautiful yard decorations.
The mobility of barrels allows to quickly move them to new locations. These art objects also attract the attention of tourists and locals.
