Belarus president awards Azerbaijani premier

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko awarded Artur Rasizade, Azerbaijan's Prime Minister with the Order of Friendship of Peoples, AzerTac state news agency reported.

Rasizade was awarded for his significant contribution to the development and strengthening of trade-economic and humanitarian relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan, the press service of the Head of Belarus State said.

A corresponding decree was signed by Lukashenko on April 7.

Rasizade was the prime minister from 1996 to 2003, when he resigned, ostensibly due to health reasons, enabling President Ilham Aliyev to assume the office. Rasizade returned to the post in 2003, after Ilham Aliyev was elected as the president.

Rasizade was awarded with Istiglal Order for his contributions to Azerbaijan's economic development by President lham Aliyev in 2005.
