Swedish companies can invest in Azerbaijan's infrastructure

The Swedish companies can make investment in Azerbaijan's infrastructure and other fields.

These remarks were made by Azerbaijan's Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev during a meeting with Swedish Trade Minister Ewa Bjorling.

Mentioning the importance to expand the legal base and development of bilateral relations between the two countries, Mustafayev said Azerbaijan attached great importance to international cooperation.

He also said opening of the Swedish embassy in Baku will play significant role in development of bilateral ties.

"Industry, metallurgy, and oil chemistry are the priority areas for cooperation," Mustafayev said. "The expansion of economic cooperation with Sweden will be favorable for both sides."

Bjorling, in turn, highly appreciated joining of Azerbaijan to the Eastern Partnership initiative. She said Sweden is actively cooperating with Azerbaijan in this sphere.

Bjorling also noted the Swedish companies can invest in Azerbaijan's infrastructure, health care, education and other fields.

As part of the visit to Azerbaijan, Bjorling also met Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry Natig Aliyev.

The sides noted bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Sweden has been developing successfully and there are ample opportunities for expanding the cooperation in economic and energy spheres.

Sweden recognized Azerbaijan's independence in November 1992. The diplomatic relationships between Sweden and Azerbaijan were established in May 1992.

Sweden opened its honor consulate in Baku in February 1998. Azerbaijan opened its Embassy in Sweden in January 2008.
