Mehriban Aliyeva named `First Lady of the Year`
Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan`s First Lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has won an award in the ``First Lady of the Year`` nomination, according to an annual survey of Turkish authoritative monthly Ekovitrin magazine for 2011.
Voting was conducted on 34 categories among 102 candidates for two months. The jury selected three candidates in each category, for whom the readers then voted.
Winners in the other nominations include Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Over 250,000 respondents participated in the poll.
The winners will be awarded the ``Award of Honor`` at a solemn ceremony to be held in June.
