Azeris to get ‘new generation’ IDs
BAKU – New generation identification documents will be made for Azerbaijan’s citizens, according to a decree enacted by President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday.
The government was ordered to create an image and a sample of the new ID, which has an electronic chip, within three months and further submit them to the president.
The chip will contain information about its holder’s address, marital status as well as finger-prints and other biometric data.
On the same day, President Aliyev issued a decree to announce 2011 the Year of Tourism.
