Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov and county`s Ambassador to Brazil Elnur Sultanov have visited “Azerbaijan” municipal school in Rio de Janeiro, Azertac reported.

The three-storey school has 26 classrooms. It has an enrollment of more than 700 students. There is a special classroom for physically disabled children here.

The delegation met with school principal Fabio Minioni, who hailed the role of the school in promoting Azerbaijan to the young generation.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Samaya Mammadova said that the school was named after Azerbaijan 8 months ago upon the proposal by member of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro Joao Ribas.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil were established in 1993. Brazilian Embassy in Azerbaijan was opened in June 2009. Azerbaijan's Embassy was established in Brazil in 2012.

Azerbaijan and Brazil share common commitments to universal values, the rule of international law, the principles of the United Nations, including respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders.
