Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus eye creation of joint transport corridors
By Nigar Abbasova
Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus have discussed a project on the development of joint transport corridors, Belta agency quoted Aleksey Avramenko, Belarus deputy minister of transport and communications as saying.
The sides have discussed the construction process of the motorway section of China-Western Europe transcontinental transport corridor. The corridor is expected to pass through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.
Initially the route of the “Meridian” main road was intended to link Kazakhstan and Belarus through the southern part of Russia by entering the M1 route located at the border with Belarus. However, Belarus has offered 2 additional routes M4 and M10 for the connection.
“The issue will be discussed and decided by means of further trilateral negotiations”, deputy minister said. He mentioned that operations on this direction will be continued underlining the importance of the participation in the project.
