Amir Abdollahian: Iran, Russia share common views on regional issues

Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that Iran and Russia have common views on the current regional developments, specially with regard to the situation in Iraq and also the issue of Syrian crisis, IRNA reported.

Amir Abdollahian pointed to his consultations with his Russian counterpart Mikhael Bogdanov on the current affairs, and said, "We will not let the remnants of Saddam regime and the Takfiri terrorist groups to endanger the regional security."

He noted that those regional countries that are playing with the regional security should either change their attitude and adopt a constructive behavior or wait for the negative outcomes of their behavior.

Amir Abdollahian pointed to Iran-Russia standpoint on Syria, and said, "Fortunately the presidential election in Syria was held in a good manner and this political trend should become complete in the future."

"We believe that all sides in Syria should help the Syrian government in its fight against terrorism in order to enable to have a government in that country to pay heed to the demands of everyone," deputy foreign minister added.

Amir Abdollahian arrived in Moscow on June 30 for a two-day visit to Russia.

Amir Abdollahian met with Bogdanov on Monday afternoon and discussed Iraqˈs current development and also the Syrian crisis.

The deputy foreign minister will attend a press conference on July 1 in Moscow to respond questions of Russian and foreign media.
