Officers of the main police department in Azerbaijani city of Ganja arrested the city’s resident, Elnur Jabbarov, who supports the members of the so-called Muslim Unity movement, the Interior Ministry reported on December 2.

Jabbarov was found out to posses two F-1 grenades and religious books containing an appeal of the movement’s leader Taleh Baghirov.

The grenades and the books were seized by the police.

The arrest comes days after a police special operation in the township of Nardaran, some 25 km northeast of Baku.

Four members of a criminal group, operating under the guise of religion, were killed during that police operation Nov. 26. Two police officers were also killed in the standoff.

Fourteen members of the criminal group were arrested along with the group’s ringleader Taleh Baghirov.
