Religious communities to be provided with relevant literature

By Jamila Babayeva
Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations has issued appropriate instructions on ensuring religious communities with relevant literature.
"Along with religious literature, the communities will also be provided with the publications on the history of Azerbaijan," Committee Head Elshad Isgandarov told journalists in Khacmaz region on March 13.
Currently 588 religious communities are registered in Azerbaijan. The State Committee acknowledged the inappropriate import of 29 types of religious literature, and also recognized as inappropriate publication of four types of religious literature in 2013.
Isgandarov met with residents of Khacmaz, Shabran, Guba, Gusar and Siyazan regions in Khacmaz. At the meeting, citizens expressed their concern about the activities of radical religious groups, and supported the state's measures in this direction.
Isgandarov said the citizens' appeals were mainly about the repair and reconstruction of places of worship, the lack of religious literature, as well as the registration of religious communities.
Also, he noted that the repair of mosques will be held on the base of a conclusion of specific expert council.
