Santa Clauses to cycle along Baku Boulevard

The Azerbaijan Cycling Federation invites everyone to participate in the bike event dedicated to the upcoming holidays, the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year.
The Federation invites all amateur cyclists to join the bike event in the capital Baku on December 29. The tour will take start from the Sport Palace and finish at the Clock Tower.
Starting from 4.00 p.m., the Cycling Federation with support of the Baku Boulevard administration will surrender the safely secured cycle lanes to all participants.
Cyclist without bicycles may obtain one from the federation, which will also present lots of gifts to children.
About 200 cyclists in the Santa Clause and the Snow Maiden outfits participated in the event, which has already become a tradition, in 2012. The federation is carrying out such actions to develop the interest in this sport.
Moreover, annual cycling competitions are held in Azerbaijan, which also shows the rising interest in the sports.
Lack of cycling tracks and cycling sport infrastructure are obstacles for the speedy development of the sports in the city, but the state has taken some measures to develop cycling. A bike park recently opened in Baku, and the construction of cycling tracks is also planned.
