Trading strategy in focus at regional workshop in Baku

The development of customs infrastructure in accordance with international standards plays an important role in creating a strong economy in today's globalized world, the head of Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said during a regional workshop on the control over the trade strategy, which is being held in Baku on October 15-17.
According to Aliyev, cooperation in the fight against drugs plays a key role in the economic development and security of the countries involved.
The State Customs Committee has been working closely with the World Customs Organization since 1995 and has achieved important success in this area, Aliyev said, stressing the need to continue working to strengthen the exchange of experience regarding scientific knowledge and practical skills in the field of customs.
The seminar in the Azerbaijani capital, which is being held in the regional office of the World Customs Organization, brought together 36 participants from 32 countries. The aim of the workshop is to identify the precise classification of dual-use goods, which means that one type of product can be used both for the production of chemical weapons and explosive substances and for the civilian purposes.
The workshop provides the exchange of experience on such topics as "The meaning and concept of strategic goods", "The international legal framework of the state in strategic trade", "The role of customs in the control over trading strategy", etc.
