Youth activities in focus at Russian delegation’s meeting in Baku

A Russian delegation had a meeting at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Youth and Sports on July 25. The delegation, which is on a visit to Baku from July 23 to 27, includes government officials, executives of the National Council of Children and Youth Organizations, Russian Youth Chamber representatives and university students.

The visit is being paid on the invitation of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Chairwoman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev in his remarks spoke about the support provided to youths in Azerbaijan.

Young people make up 66 percent of the Azerbaijani population. The number of youths aged 14-29 makes up 31 percent of the total population in the country.

Babayev noted that more than 220 NGOs are operating in the field of youth and the ministry supports these organizations.

The head of the delegation, executive director of the Sodruzhestvo International Youth Public Organization, Magomed Aliyev, said that Azerbaijani youths take an active part in all the events of Sodruzhestvo. At the same time, the country's youths achieve the best results in international projects and events.

Aliyev highlighted the activity of Azerbaijani young people within the projects and programs of youth organizations of CIS countries.

In conclusion, Aliyev presented an honorary diploma of Sodruzhestvo to Deputy Minister Babayev for the support of his organization.

The Russian delegation members' meetings with a number of governmental and non-governmental organizations are scheduled during their stay in the Azerbaijani capital.
