Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia discuss cooperation

Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia have explored ways of developing cooperation as visiting Chairman of the country`s State Committee on Religious Structures Elshad Isgandarov has met the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance of Saudi Arabia Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh, AzerTac state news agency reported.

Isgandarov expressed satisfaction on current state of friendship relations between the two countries and stressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia`s supporting Azerbaijan`s fair position, as well as the country`s territorial integrity on the international arena.

The chairman briefed Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh on the country`s state and religious relations, as well as progress achieved by the committee over the last years, particularly new initiatives in the religious enlightenment sphere, the country`s support to the protection and development of national cultural heritage and religious-historical values.

Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh, in turn, touched upon historical and religious traditions in Saudi Arabia, as well as its religious policy, the structure of the ministry.

They discussed prospects of cooperation, joint implementation of mutual projects and reached an agreement in the relevant field.

They also reached an agreement on preparation of the memorandum project on cooperation opportunities.

Isgandarov, as part of his visit, will hold a number of meetings with the country`s officials.
