French companies may expand involvement in Azerbaijan

There is a great potential to expand the involvement of French companies in Azerbaijan’s industrial parks, said Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Economy and Industry Minister.
Mustafayev made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from France’s Alsace region led by Jean-Marie Bockel, member of the Senate of France, the former minister on February 11.
The minister emphasized the successful development of political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and France.
“The trade relations between the two countries are expanding and mutual investments are carried out,” Mustafayev said. “French companies are actively participating in the petrochemical, food, agricultural, machine engineering, tourism and other spheres in Azerbaijan.”
He added that Azerbaijan is actively cooperating with French companies and the visit of a delegation from Alsace will give impetus to the further development of these relations.
There is a great potential for the development of relations in the sphere of agriculture and winemaking, as well as the participation of French companies in Azerbaijan’s industrial parks, the minister believes.
Jean-Marie Bockel, for his part, expressed hope for the further development of economic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the issues of mutual interest and the prospects for the development of relations.
Azerbaijan is now developing industrial parks and areas around the country. Today, Azerbaijan is developing two industrial parks in Baku’s suburb and the second biggest industrial city of the country Sumgayit.
A new industrial park will also be created in Mingachevir city. Neftchala region will enjoy the opportunity of being industrial district, aimed at development of the non-oil industry by creating commercial and processing enterprises to promote small and medium entrepreneurship.
Azerbaijan creates favorable conditions for foreign companies to participate in these industrial parks.
