Baku Expo Center hosts int'l transport exhibitions

The 13th International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition and the 4th Caspian International Road Infrastructure and Public Transport Exhibition kicked off at Baku Expo Center on June 12.

Organized by Iteca Caspian LLC and its partner, ITE Group Plc., brings together 104 companies from 16 countries. The exhibitions are also officially supported by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Azerbaijan's National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers') Organizations (ASK).

Addressing the opening ceremony of the event, Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said over the past 10 years the total volume of investment in the development of Azerbaijan's road transport sector exceeded $20 billion.

"These funds were invested in the development of all areas of transport, particularly in the construction of new and reconstruction of existing roads and road infrastructure, in the construction of a new airport and seaport, and in the purchase of vessels and aircrafts," he said.

Panahov added that over the past ten years. Azerbaijan has laid and renovated roads with a total length of more than 9,000 kilometers. It has also built 250 bridges, purchased a large number of tankers and so on.

"All these works were carried out with the participation of local and world's leading companies at the expense of public investment and credit funds," the deputy minister added.

Panahov added that the works are underway on the preparation of a road transport infrastructure to receive visitors and athletes for the First European Games. The event is to be held in Baku in June 2015.

TransCaspian 2014 includes companies from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, China, Russia, France, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Among the participants this year are Latvian Railways, Georgian Railways, Access Trans, Alstom Transport, BM Logistics, EGT Express, GA Logistics, Liebherr, Murphy Shipping LLC, Rosen International Logistics Co., L-expressis LLC, AztransOil, TransQafqaz Transport, TransMashHolding and Ram Trans Group. The sponsor of TransCaspian 2014 is Stadler Rail Group.

The 4th Caspian International Road Infrastructure and Public Transport Exhibition, Road and Traffic 2014 demonstrate a wide range of road infrastructure organizations in the region, represented by companies from Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Turkey, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and other countries.

The exhibitions will continue until 14 June and are the final events organized by Iteca Caspian for the spring-summer season.
