Azerbaijan implements int'l practice in tax administration

Azerbaijan intends to implement the most successful international practice in tax administration.

The news was announced by Azerbaijan' Deputy Taxes Minister Sahib Alakbarov at the 92nd meeting of the Governing Council of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA) in Baku.

"For a long time, we have successfully worked in this direction with a number of international organizations. IOTA is a successful platform for exchanging experience, and we welcome its work. Azerbaijan's GDP has grown over three times in the past 10 years, and a goal has been set for the national economy to double this figure in the next decade. Of course, we need advanced foreign developments to ensure a tax administration corresponding to such economic growth," Alakbarov stressed.

He went on to say that this approach is the main idea for Azerbaijan's entire national policy.

The IOTA meeting in Baku discussed the development of the organization's information platform and updating its website, as well as the IOTA's technical and financial reports and budget for the next year.

Azerbaijan has been a member of the IOTA since 2002, and joined its Governing Council last year.
