Local poultry plant to expand its export markets

Today Azerbaijan produces eggs in sufficient quantity and domestic demand is being fully met. Moreover, the country is currently in intensive search of foreign markets for export.

The Hajigabul Poultry Farming plant located in the Hajigabul region of Azerbaijan will start exporting eggs to Qatar next week, head of the plant’s export department Akif Aliyev told Trend. He said that 36,000 eggs will be exported in 1,000 packages.

He also mentioned that there is a plan of raising export volumes and that currently the main export markets are Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan where there is high demand for the plant’s products.

Aliyev emphasized that the company has to increase exports to foreign markets, as there is little demand in the local market. Taking into account that cost of transportation and logistics expenses are pretty high, there is a need of constant search of customers to sell products that are kept in warehouses.

Hajigabul Poultry Farming located in the Aghajanli village of the Hajigabul region was privatized in October 2002. Presently, the company provides 70-75 percent of domestic egg demand.

The poultry plant's equipment was produced in Turkey, Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey in accordance with the modern international standards.

Presently, there are about 90 henhouses for 3,5 million hens at the plant. Some 1,3 million eggs are produced every day.

The manufactured products have a certificate of conformity issued by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan.
