Turkish entrepreneurs will actively participate in the creation of large industrial sites in Azerbaijan.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral announced about this at a meeting with the chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) Aydin Aliyev on October 2.

Ozoral noted that the political, economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey are at a high level, and customs authorities have important responsibilities in the context of economic relations.

The envoy affirmed that Turkish businessmen are satisfied with the work of Azerbaijani customs services and do not have any problem in this respect.

In turn, Aliyev assured that relations between the countries are developing upstream, voicing satisfaction with the cooperation with the customs authorities of Turkey. He added that the Turkish experience in risk management in the customs service had a positive impact on the customs of Azerbaijan.

Turkey is a major trade partner of Azerbaijan. The trade turnover between the countries exceeded $1.67 billion in January-September 2016, according to the Azerbaijan’s SCC. Azerbaijan exported goods to $842.2 million, while Turkish imports to Azerbaijan amounted to $830.8 million. Azerbaijan's investments in the Turkish economy are expected to reach $17-20 billion by 2020.

The two neighboring countries and strategic partners enjoy significant and developing economic ties, especially in terms of huge energy projects, as Azerbaijan has rich natural resources in the Caspian Sea. Thus, the country transports its hydrocarbon resources to the European and world markets through the Turkish territory.

Moreover, Azerbaijan and Turkey are the beneficiaries of all the major projects in the region, in particular the Southern Gas Corridor, which includes the TANAP and TAP projects, as well as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

The partnership between Turkey and Azerbaijan may be regarded as the driving force forming policy and economy in the region. The political weight of Ankara is supported by the economic projects launched by Azerbaijan. This unity allows two brotherly states to respond all modern challenges.
