Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) is fully prepared to introduce Tax Free system on all checkpoints of the country, Committee Head Aydin Aliyev told reporters on September 21.

This system is already used at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. But conditions have been created for using the Tax Free system on checkpoints as well, said Aliyev.

“However, this issue doesn’t depend only on the State Customs Committee. Therefore, as soon as the system is introduced, we will ensure its work on all checkpoints,” the SCC head added.

The SCC also proposed to impose customs duties on the fur export from Azerbaijan, said Aydin Aliyev, adding that the corresponding proposal has already been sent to the government.

“This proposal is already under discussion in the government and I believe that it will be adopted in the near future,” he said. “As we do not have fur processing enterprises, entrepreneurs export raw materials without paying customs duties.”

The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan has completed the forecast for contributions to the state budget in 2016 at 88.4 percent, Aydin Aliyev also stressed during the interview.

“The forecast on customs revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2016 is planned at the level of 1.81 billion manats ($1.1 billion). Since the beginning of the year, the SCC has transferred 1.6 billion manats (almost $1 billion) from the collection of customs duties and taxes,” he noted.

Aliyev believes that there will be no problem with the implementation of the annual forecast on customs revenues in 2016. "I think that we will not only fulfill, but even exceed the forecast for this year. As for next year, it is too early to tell about it, as the discussion of the draft budget for 2017 start tomorrow."
