Russia to assist to improve well-being of Tajikistan's rural population

Russia will assist to the improvement of the well-being of rural population of Tajikistan.

The Russian government will transfer $6.7 million to the budget of the UN Development Program in 2014-2016 for the implementation of the project "Improving the well-being of one million rural population living in nine districts of Tajikistan".

This was noted in the text of an order, published on the official internet-portal of legal information, ITAR-TASS reported.

The document said for this purpose Russia will allocate $2.5 million in 2014 and $2.1 million in 2015 and 2016.

Russian Foreign Ministry was instructed to inform the UN and the Tajik government on the decision, as well as to coordinate the transfer and use of these funds with the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Economic Development.

Russia is the leading trade and economic partner of Tajikistan. In the first five months of 2014, the trade turnover grew by over 18 percent compared to the same period of 2013, and the scope of direct Russian investments in the Tajik economy reached $1.6 billion.
