Thanks to cooperation with Euro-2016, the Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR has increased its international sales by 30 percent, the company’s website reports.

The results of the bilateral partnership were discussed at a Paris meeting of Rovnag Abdullayev and Gianni Infantino (presidents of SOCAR and FIFA) and other officials at the Azerbaijan Culture Centre.

Despite the fall of oil prices, SOCAR managed to secure profitability because of its multi-directional investment and marketing strategy. In recent years, the company has created a number of foreign subsidiaries, which resulted in ensuring a solid position among large multinational companies.

“The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan is interested in continuing its activities on the European market. Promotion of SOCAR by means of such a spectacular mass event as Euro-2016 served this purpose,” the company’s statement said. As a result, the company achieved almost one-third increase of its international sales.

While watching the Euro-2016 matches, fans could repeatedly notice the banners of SOCAR around the football fields. Moreover, SOCAR constructed the fan zone in Paris, which was attended by more than a million visitors. Additionally, the company carried out a strong social-marketing policy, which resulted in about 90 million worldwide people who saw SOCAR publication in social networks.

Previously, SOCAR financed the identical campaign when Spanish Atletico Mardid club for over 2 years provided its players’ t-shirts with “Azerbaijan – Land of Fire” advertising slogan.

The National Oil Company also took care of the Azerbaijani football fans – a Fan Zone encompassing about 5,000 spectators was created in Baku as well. The younger fans were invited right at the Stade de France stadium where the final game of Euro-2016 took place – they were young players from Sumgayit, Siyazan, Ganja, Mingachevir and Agsu football schools.

By these actions, SOCAR tries to stimulate all Azerbaijani children for football and contribute to a greater development of this game in the country.
