Azerbaijani cycling team gains success in Lithuania

Azerbaijani cyclists obtained good results at the international track cycling championship Panevezys 2014 in Lithuania.

The three-day UCI-1 race brought Azerbaijan two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. Gold winner Olga Ismayilova, Sergey Omelchenko and Yelena Pavluxina successfully present Azerbaijan at the tournament.

Omelchenko won the silver medal at the 200-meter sprint race and the bronze medal in keirin. Ismayilova broke her own record of the year finalizing 200-meter sprint race in 11.443 seconds.

Ismayilova also won the right to participate in the World Cup in Mexico this November.

Pavluxina, another member of the team, took the 9th place in omnium of 6 types.

However, before that, Azerbaijani team would take part at the European Championships in France.

Earlier, Azerbaijani cycling team took part in the "Giorni delle Rose" cycling competition in Italy.

Ismayilova took the first place at sprint competitions in the scratch race at 200 meters and the second place in keirin.

Pavlukhina and Omelchenko took respectively the 12th and 7th place.
