The World Sambo Championship among Youth and Juniors run in Novi Sad, Serbia on October 12-16.
The tournament brought together 90 contestants from 15 clubs.
Azerbaijani female sambo wrestler Irena Khubulova won a gold medal at championship, Azertac reported. She secured the medal in the 52kg weight category.
Other Azerbaijani sambo wrestlers Yashar Najafov (60kg) and Teymur Allahverdiyev (70kg) scooped the bronze medals of the tournament.
Wrestling remains the most popular sport in the county and is overseen by the Azerbaijani National Wrestling Federation, which was established in 1993.
The Rio Games opened a new page in wrestling for Azerbaijan. The country became one of only two nations ever to increase the number of medals achieved in five consecutive Games.
