By Jamila Babayeva
A new HPP will be constructed on the Kura river, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze told reporters after the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Taner Yildiz.
"It is a joint project [with Turkey] on Kura river and appropriate groups are working on it", Kaladze said.
At the meeting he noted the importance of functioning power transmission line connecting Georgia and Turkey.
"It is very significant facility, which will strengthen relations between the two countries," Kaladze underscored.
A power transmission line with a 400 kilovolt capacity connecting the Georgian and Turkish power systems was opened by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze on December 11. Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev, as well as representatives of the Georgian Cabinet of Ministers and international organisations attended the opening ceremony.
