Over 2,390 tankers sail from Ceyhan terminal

As of January 6, 2014, over 1.84 billion barrels of oil have been shipped since June 2, 2006 from the Ceyhan oil terminal by Turkish Botas International Limited (BIL) compared to 1.82 billion barrels as of Dec. 2, 2013, BIL reported.

BIL has been engaged in the operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in Turkey since 2001.

Some 2,392 oil tankers were shipped from Ceyhan terminal during the reported period compared to 2360 as of December 2, 2013, the report said.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1768 kilometres of which 443 kilometres runs through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometres through the territory of Georgia and 1076 through Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18 2005.

Stockholders of BTC Co established on August 1, 2002 are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
