Iran's NIGC to bid for privatisation of Turkish gas distribution company

Iran's state-owned gas company NIGC intends to take part in the privatisation of the Turkish state gas distribution company Başkentgaz in Ankara, Trend news agency reported referring to Zaman newspaper.

It is reported that the final tender for the privatisation of Başkentgaz will be held on Jan.18.

The privatisation of the second largest gas distribution network in Turkey was postponed several times. The last time the tender was cancelled on Sept.12, 2012 due to the low prices offered for the company.

The company is put up for 100 per cent privatisation. More than 700,000 shares for a total amount of $50 million have been put up for tender.

Earlier, 90 per cent of the gas distribution network in Istanbul - İgdaş Doğal Gaz Dağıtım A.Ş was privatised in Turkey.
