Iranian gas pipe shipment drowned in Persian Gulf
An Iranian barge which was shipping pipelines toward the South
Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf hit storm on Wednesday and its
cargo drowned, Mehr news agency reported.
The 12,000-ton barge was sailing from southwestern Khorramshahr
port to the South Pars gas field. The pipes were planned to be
installed in the phase 19 of the South pars gas field.
None of the barge's crews were injured in the incident.
The South Pars gas field is shared by Iran and Qatar.
The Iranian share, which is divided into 29 phases, has about 14
trillion cubic meters of gas, or about eight percent of the total
world reserves, and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied
natural gas resources.
