President Putin awards Azerbaijani high-ranking officials

Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov and Azerbaijan’s Presidential Aide, Head of the Department of Socio-Political Affairs at the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov with the “Friendship” order, according to the AzerTac state news agency.

The decree signed by the president says Ogtay Asadov and Ali Hasanov are awarded the order for great contribution to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation with the Russian Federation.

Asadov was elected to the National Assembly of Azerbaijan in the 2000 parliamentary elections and subsequently re-elected in 2005 from Absheron district and in 2010 from Binagadi district of Baku. He is the head of Azerbaijani delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS and to the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking Countries (TURKPA).

Hasanov served as the director of the Ideology Department of New Azerbaijan Party from February 23, 1994 until September 29, 1995. Hasanov then worked as the Assistant Director of the Head of Department on Social Political Issues of the Executive Apparatus from September 30, 1995 until July 9, 1996, and as its head from July 9, 1996 through July 19, 2005. When the official name of the apparatus was changed to Presidential Administration, Hasanov was re-appointed to the same position. He is the National Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan of the First Rank.
