ADEX defense exhibition to open

Some 200 companies from 34 countries, including 22 official delegations from 19 countries will attend a defense industry exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Defense Industry Yahya Musayev said on September 10.

Baku Expo Center will host ADEX 2014 international defense industry exhibition on September 11-13. The exhibition, the first one of this kind in Caucasus and Azerbaijan, would put on display modern weapons and equipment.

Organizational partners of the exhibition are "Iteca Caspian" and "Caspian Event Organizers" (CEO).

Azerbaijan will display 168 items including bombs, small arms, combat modules mounted on armored vehicles at the exhibition, Musayev said.

"Eight national teams from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Korea, Poland, Israel and Ukraine will put on display their products during the exhibition. Azerbaijan, Turkey (37 companies), Poland (16 companies), Israel (16 companies) and Belarus (10 companies) are distinguished among the participant countries in terms of huge attendance," Musayev underlined.

He added that holding the defense industry exhibition in the country is one of the indicators of development of Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan is the fourth country in the former Soviet Union after Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, which is going to host such an exhibition," Musayev said.

Russia will be represented by "United Aircraft Corporation" Company, "Rosoboronexport" and "Helicopters of Russia" at the event.

Products presented at ADEX will include armaments, radar installations, ammunition, anti-mine systems, electronic defense systems, land, sea and air defense systems, space technologies, naval equipment and armaments, programs for the repair and modernization of aviation equipment, technical reconnaissance tools, telecommunications, optical electronics, engineering systems, specialized equipment, simulators and training programs and many others.

Numerous bilateral meetings with heads of relevant Ministries, manufacturer companies and customers will be held at the sideline of the exhibition.
