Various aspects of the Azerbaijan-Jordan relations were mulled as Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to Jordan Sabir Aghabayov has met President of the country`s Senate Abdelraouf al-Rawabdeh.

Al-Rawabdeh hailed relations between the two countries as friendly and fraternal, AzerTag state news agency reported.


He also praised relationship between the Jordan Senate and Azerbaijan`s Parliament.

Speaking about the Azerbaijan-Jordan relations, Aghabayov noted that the two countries had signed nearly 40 agreements, and officials had paid reciprocal visits.

Aghabayov lauded the recognition of the Khojaly genocide by the Jordan Senate, describing it as a signal of strong friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries.

The diplomat also expressed hope that the newly established Friendship Group for Azerbaijan at the Jordan Senate would contribute to strengthening the bilateral ties.

Aghabayov handed over a letter to Al-Rawabdeh inviting him the 2nd Global Shared Societies Forum to be held in Baku on April 27-29.

The Jordan Kingdom relates to Azerbaijan as reliable economic and political ally. Jordan repeatedly voiced intention to activate ties with Azerbaijan, which turns recently to the leading country in South Caucasus and to invest heavily in economy of the country.

Amman and Baku also have ambitious plans to expand their cooperation in education, culture and other fields to serve the interests of their peoples.
