President opens building of Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre after overhaul
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened on Thursday a building of the Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre after major overhaul, AzerTac state news agency reported.
The Head of State was informed about reconstruction work in the building.
President Ilham Aliyev met foreign experts, who were involved
the reconstruction work.
It was noted that the first theatre building was constructed in
Baku in 1883 at the initiative of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. The
first performance of Leyli and Majnun opera of Uzeyir Hajibeyov
took place in this theater.
National leader Heydar Aliyev attended the official opening of the Theatre`s building in October, 1998.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed a 460-seat hall.
