Azerbaijani population reaches 9.356 million
Azerbaijan's population has reached 9.356 million, the State Statistics Committee told Trend news agency on Thursday.
According to preliminary data, the Azerbaijani population increased by 121,400 (1.3 per cent) in 2012. Most of the population, 52.9 per cent, live in cities.
The number of women is still higher than men standing at 50.4 per cent, and 1000 men account for 1016 women.
Youth makes up 30.3 per cent of the country's population.
The State Committee also estimated the life expectancy of children born last year. According to the State Statistics Committee, the life expectancy for them is 73.8 years. According to the same report, the life expectancy is 71.2 years for boys and 76.5 years for girls.
