Azerbaijani State Security Service's veteran: Latest provocations of Armenia were evidence of its preps for war

The recent continuous provocations of the Armenian armed forces on the line of contact were evidence of their intention to start a war, Veteran of the State Security Service, reserve colonel Azer Garayev told Trend on Sept.30.
Garayev said that although the President of Azerbaijan has repeatedly informed the world community about this at international events, the Armenians weren’t going to refuse from these provocations.
"The facts that the armed forces of Armenia, having committed a new provocation in July 2020 in the direction of the Tovuz district along the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border, shelled our villages, and in August an Armenian sabotage group sneaked in Azerbaijani territory, trying to commit a provocation, already testified to their decision to begin the war,” he noted.
“As a result, on the morning of September 27, the Armenian armed forces carried out a provocation on the line of contact, firing at civilians of Azerbaijani settlements with large-caliber weapons, thus, carrying out another aggression against civilians, subjecting our villages to shelling,” Garayev said. “After that, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan gave the order to launch a counteroffensive. As a result, as always, the enemy was forced to retreat, suffering losses.”
“Despite this, the Armenian armed forces continue to commit provocations, targeting our settlements. Unable to withstand the pressure of the Azerbaijani army, the Armenians once again show their insidious nature by firing at civilians,” he emphasized. “There are dead and wounded among the civilians in Tartar. In addition, five members of the same family, including two children were killed from the shelling of a house in Naftalan from heavy artillery. All this is a continuation of the Armenian provocations. The armed forces of Armenia fired at civilians in the Dashkasan district. The valiant Azerbaijani army gave an adequate response to these actions of the forces," Garayev said.
He also noted that the people believe and support the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
"As a citizen, I also greet the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and believe that in the coming days the occupied territories of Azerbaijan will be completely liberated. As a participant in the war and an officer of the security service, I sincerely rejoice and welcome the news of the liberation of our occupied territories. Today, the Azerbaijani army is fully formed. It is equipped and strong as never before. The Azerbaijani Army will soon completely liberate our occupied lands," he concluded.
