Baku to host 2nd tourism film festival in June

Baku will host the second International Tourism Film Festival in June.
The traditional festival is a non-profit cultural event aimed at promoting films on various aspects of tourism and selecting the most successful films that promote domestic and international tourism.
The second edition of the festival, which is part of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) based in Vienna, will be held on June 25-29.
Organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, the non-profit cultural event is aimed at helping these films find a broader international audience and drawing attention to the tourism potential of Azerbaijan as one of the international centers rich in historical and cultural heritage.
The festival features several categories, including "Country", "Region", "City", "Culture & Tradition", "Extreme Tourism", "Ecotourism", "TV Reports", "Commercials", and "National Award".
In addition to the competitive and non-competitive program, the festival includes workshops and discussions among filmmakers, experts in tourism, and the media.
The official languages of the festival are Azerbaijani and English.
The free-of-charge festival has put no restrictions on the length of a film. Applications can be submitted by marketing and communication professionals from corporations and public relations agencies, services, public sector, film producers and filmmakers, production companies, multimedia companies, TV stations, and students.
Every entry can only be submitted in one category. The submitted material for the festival must be completed by January 1, 2012. For submission, the applicants should use an entry form the website (http://www.bitff.az/entry-form/). The deadline for entries is May 1.
Movies will be evaluated by an international jury, consisting of local and foreign cinematographers and tourism experts.
The holders of the top three places in each category
will receive awards and diplomas. The director of the best film
will be presented with the Grand Prix and an award of €4,000.
The first Baku International Tourism Film Festival was held in
November 2013, gathering some 78 films from 31 countries in the
competitive part of the festival.
