Event on Azerbaijani mugham held in Latvia

The Latvian Academy of Music held an evening of Azerbaijani mugham (folk music) led by People's Artist, outstanding performer of Azerbaijani Mugham Mansum Ibrahimov on October 16.

Latvian President Andris Berzins was invited as an honorary guest to the concert. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Latvia Elman Zeynalov, Rector of Azerbaijan State National Conservatory Siyavush Kerimi, Rector of the Latvian Academy of Music Artis Simanis, MPs, prominent Latvian public and political figures, representatives of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Diaspora, and diplomats accredited in the country attended the event.

Khanande (mugham singer) Mansum Ibrahimov sang folk songs and mugham with the accompainment of musicians of the "Garabagh" band, Azerbaijani Honored Artists Elchin Hashimov (tar), Elnur Ahmadov (kamancha), Kamran Karimov, and Joshgun Sadigov.

The "Garabagh Shikestesi" composition was met with a storm of standing ovation of the audience.
