Radio broadcast on Azeri culture launched in U.S.

WASHINGTON – A radio broadcast dedicated to Azerbaijan’s culture, art and music has been launched in the United States for the first time in the country’s history.
The program, titled "Voice of Karabakh", is being aired under an agreement signed by the Karabakh Foundation operating in the U.S. and the Washington-based New World Radio (www.wust1120.com).
According to the Foundation, the weekly broadcast will provide information about Azerbaijani culture to the audience of 5 million people in Fredericksburg, as well as the US states of Virginia, Baltimore and Maryland. Prominent scholars and public figures will comprehensively inform American listeners and hold discussions on Azerbaijan’s culture, music and cuisine. The program features Azerbaijani songs, including Mugham (folk music) tunes, and classical music.
"Voice of Karabakh" consists of two parts, with the first one being aired in English, while the second one in the Azerbaijani language.
The Karabakh Foundation was established in the U.S. in November 2009. The organization aims to promote among Americans the recognition of Azerbaijan, its Nagorno Karabakh region and the entire Caucasus, as well as Azerbaijani culture and music.
