Philharmonic Hall honors legacy of eminent mugham singer [PHOTOS]
Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall has hosted a musical evening titled "Nadir muğam gecəsi", dedicated to the memory of the outstanding mugham singer, People's Artist Hajibabay Huseynov, AzerNEWS reports. The event was organized by Nadir Events.
Hajibabay Huseynov was one of the prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani mugham school. He was known not only as a talented performer but also as a refined expert of the classical mugham tradition, who devoted many years to teaching and mentoring young khanendes (mugham singers). His work made a significant contribution to the preservation and development of Azerbaijani mugham, and today his students continue the traditions of the great master on stages both in the country and abroad.
The evening, which attracted great interest among mugham lovers, brought together well-known representatives of the musical arts on one stage. The concert program was hosted by literary reader Huseynagha Aslanov.
The concert featured performances by People's Artists Simara Imanova and Zabit Nabizade, Honored Art Worker Agil Melikov, Honored Artist Zakir Aliyev, as well as khanendes Elgiz Aliyev, Vafa Vazirova, Mammad Najafov, Rovshan Bashirov, Mutallim Demirov and Huseyn Melikov.
The mugham singers were accompanied by an ensemble of folk instruments led by People's Artist Elchin Hashimov (tar) and Honored Artist Elnur Ahmadov (kamancha). The concert also featured musicians Altay Niftaliyev (tar) and Khayyam Mammadov (kamancha).
The repertoire of the evening was particularly rich and was built in accordance with the creative heritage of Hajibabay Huseynov. The audience listened with great attention to fragments of the mugham modes "Segah," "Bayati-Shiraz," "Chahargah," and "Rast," performed by the masters, as well as heartfelt philosophical tesnifs and the beloved folk song "Ay Dilbər."
The musical evening became a tribute of deep respect to the artistic path of the great khanende and was remembered as a significant event in preserving and passing on the rich heritage of Azerbaijani mugham to the younger generation.
