Preparations for the opening ceremony of the 42 nd World Chess Olympiad are in full swing. The script of the event has now been approved and rehearsals of the ceremony have started, The press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad reported.

With the support of “Amapola Exclusive Events”, the official partner of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee, preparations for the event have entered the final stage.

The opening ceremony has been designed by Ukrainian script-writer Viktor Nikolayevich Knysh.

Also involved in the preparations as part of the creative group are People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Tarana Muradova and the director of RAST Production and merited artist of Azerbaijan, Rashad Hashimov.

The opening ceremony of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad will be held at the National Gymnastic Arena on September 1. The event will start at 19:00.

The 42nd World Chess Olympiad scheduled for September 1-14 will be held in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku with participation of 2,000 chess masters from 180 counties.

FIDE’s biennial chess tournament, will gather teams from all over the world to compete for the best title.

The opening ceremony of the Olympiad will be held in the National Gymnastics Arena, while charming Crystal Hall, once hosting Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, will host the games.
