Baku 2015 expo held at Independence Museum

An exhibition “Baku-2015” dedicated to the European Games was launched at the Independence Museum of Azerbaijan within the “International Museum Day”.

Museum Director Farida Shamsi spoke of the history of the International Museum Day, which created in 1977. More than 150 countries celebrate the International Museum Day, she informed.

The exhibition featured 50 works of professional and amateur artists, dedicated to the European Games.

Azerbaijani first Olympic winner in judo Nazim Huseynov and Olympic Champion Namig Abdullayev attended the event.

The exhibition also featured a concert program.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
