New trends change out life
By Laman Sadigova
In this fluid and dynamic world nothing is stationary.
“Likes”, followers, twerk dance, selfie, tunnels in ears, and piercings throughout the whole body … Welcome to the 21st century.
We barely get used to something that something new already comes to replace it. Each next era brings new ideas to our life. These are trends - a word which is very popular today.
We indeed witnessed such trends as wearing bangs, covering the whole face and the mass flash mob which meant to douche yourself with ice water.
The trend caught on and quickly spread throughout society.
Probably, we would have looked weird right now looking at ourselves five years ago. However such is the reality of our fast-moving times. We simply need to learn to live with it.
Every year, every season, every month and even every day, new tendencies come to replace old ones.
Gadgets. The future is not so far
Let's begin with one of today's popular trend – selfies. This trend undoubtedly is widely popular, having crossed over continents, languages and cultures.
Selfie, became even the "word of the year" in the Oxford English Dictionary - November 2013. Almost every person who uses gadgets with camera has an experience of selfie. This tendency rose in such a level that even presidents do it those days.
Stimulated by the widespread of social media, selfies have become the thing to do. While you read this article, someone in the world is probably taking selfies.
However, over time “selfies” have evolved.
The gadget that now is also on the agenda is smart watch. Everybody loves movies about James Bond and his smart gadgets of the future. Well, now you can go to the shop and buy it. Dozens of choices on your wrist! And, of course, a huge boom around has raised its popularity, making it the most popular gadget for now.
Not only watches, but smart children!
Sometimes modern children seem smarter than their parents. They easily speak several languages, are good at technology from infancy and grow up in conditions of complete technological domination.
Yes, of course, learning foreign languages for children is not a new tendency. However, in today’s globalization, modern children learn them simply by watching cartoons, by searching internet and using global networks.
I personally know young children, who learned one or even two foreign languages completely independently. Something the older generation most likely would never do.
Children who speak several languages have overcome the border of fragmentation between cultures, ideologies - they are expected to do great thing.
One of the most amazing phenomena, which would have been impossible to imagine a decade ago, is now a well-paid hobby – playing computer games and posting them on YouTube. Young gamers become popular and rich by just playing games.
Healthy lifestyle
Do you remember how “cool” it was to smoke, drink, in other words, show everyone, how irresponsible you are to your health.
However, now there is a new definition of being “cool”.
Athletic girls and boys completely replaced hipsters with their canned beer, mustaches, trucker hats—and later plaid, beards, and thick-rimmed glasses with puny view.
Sport has become more valuable for people as their striving to be fit and healthy has risen. Sickly skinny girls with thin arms are no longer the standard of beauty, now the world marvel at athletic girls.
Some people have even went as far as cutting themselves off from any smoking person and so on in their pursuit of perfect fitness - changing their diet and lifestyle to meet such high standards.
Bloggers who post photos of their inflated body gain millions of “followers”, and now it is more valuable than taking part in the morning show on TV.
Another phenomenon is that petite girl can too become models. Many are actually quite popular those days.
Every time has its heroes, tendencies, and “cool” things.
