Azerbaijani duo win int'l figure skating tournament (UPDATE)

Azerbaijan's athletes won the 46th Golden Spin international tournament, which was held in Zagreb, Croatia on December 5-8.

Figure skating duo Julia Zlobina and Alexei Sitnikov secured the champions' title after scoring a total of 150.83 points in ice dance competition.

Moreover, Azerbaijani athletes won the short dance at the tournament, gaining 57.28 points and left behind France and Spain.

Russia's two-time champion Sergei Voronov won in the men's singles, gaining 245.07 points, while Korea's Yun Kim won in ladies' singles, gaining 204.49 points. Israeli athletes Andrea Davidovich and Evgeni Krasnopolski won in pair skating, gaining 151.92 points.

Azerbaijan's Julia Zlobina paired with Alexei Sitnikov won the championship of Estonia in 2011. Furthermore Zlobina is the bronze medalist of the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. Together with Alexei Sitnikov she won the license for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi on the results of the World Championships in Canadian London in March, 2013.

The Golden Spin of Zagreb, an annual senior-level figure skating competition, is held yearly in Zagreb, Croatia. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating. The equivalent for junior-level (and below) skaters is the Golden Bear of Zagreb.
