Tajikistan, WCO  mull ties

Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Nizommidin Zohidov has met with Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, the Secretary-General of World Customs Organization (WCO), the Foreign Ministry reported.

The sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between Tajikistan and WCO.

They also expressed their willingness to further expand bilateral relations between Tajikistan and WCO.

WCO Secretary-General Kunio Mikuriya arrived in Tajikistan on September 30 with a three-day working visit. In the framework of his visit, Mikuriya already met with the head of country's customs service Rustami Emomali, the Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda.

Mikuriya is to visit the customs control points on the Tajik-Afghan border and at the Dushanbe International Airport (DIA).

World Customs Organization (WCO) is an intergovernmental organization, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. WCO established as the Customs Co-operation Council (CCC) in 1952 to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of customs administrations worldwide. It has a total of 179 members. Tajikistan joined WCO in 1997.
