Azerbaijan to up gas production by 2015
Azerbaijan`s gas production is forecast at 29 billion cubic meters by 2015 against 26 billion cubic meters as of the end of 2011, according to the state energy firm Socar.
21.1bn cubic meters of the total volume of gas to be produced by 2015 will be extracted under international agreements on developing the major Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of offshore oil and gas fields and the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, Socar said.
The volume of gas to be produced by Socar on its own will total 7.9bn cubic meters, according to projections.
Azerbaijan`s gas output in January-April 2012 made up 5.96bn cubic meters, 9.9 percent over the same period of last year.
In 2011, the country`s gas production decreased by 0.23bn cubic meters compared to 2010 and made up 26bn cubic meters.
