An exhibition called "The Children's Eyes on Earth" opened in Malta's capital Valetta at the initiation of the Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Leyla Aliyeva, President of Malta George Abela, the country's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and his spouse, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, Maltese officials and public figures, and Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy with concurrent accreditation to Malta and San-Marino Vagif Sadigov took part in the opening ceremony.

Featuring 85 large-scale photographs by children chosen from 4000 submissions representing 91 countries, the exhibition is aimed at raising awareness about important environmental issues seen through the eyes of children.

All the photographs share the same themes: protecting the environment, preventing the causes of pollution, and increasing knowledge about some of the challenges facing the planet.

Organized by world-famous photographer, poet, and humanitarian Reza Deghati, the exhibition is sponsored by International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA), and presided by Leyla Aliyeva in collaboration with the President of Malta and the Ministry of Education.

The exhibition's international jury includes renowned celebrities from National Geographic, Reuters, Associated Press, Fox International, and the Nature and Photographic magazines.

Addressing the event, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev and Foundation and IDEA's Founder and Director provided an insight into the exhibition.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, famous Maltese photographer Charles Mifsud pointed to the importance of the exhibition and praised the Azerbaijani culture, art, and literature.

Deghati, in turn, gave an interactive lecture to local photographers, and spoke about his works and projects aimed at promoting education through photography.

Azerbaijani Ambassador and the President and the Premier of Malta stressed the importance of the exhibition, and thanked Leyla Aliyeva for organizing "such a grandiose art event".

A banquet was arranged at the Maltese Premier's summer residence in honor of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The exhibition will run until February 28.
