Baku capable of hosting Olympics
Baku is on its way to being ready to host the Olympic Games, Around The Rings website said citing European Olympic Committees President Patrick Hickey.
Hickey said the experience convinces him that Azerbaijan’s capital city has what it takes to launch a competitive bid for the Olympics again.
He added that the bid process is currently underway to find a host for the 2019 edition of the European Games.
Hickey, who has the highest praise for Baku, also said the attitude and spirit of the people of Baku and Azerbaijan had an Olympic feel to it.
The First European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and wrapped up June 28. The Games hosted 20 sports – 16 Olympic and four non-Olympic sports. Over 6,000 athletes represented the European countries at Baku 2015.
