Oil storage facility burning in Iran

Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has visited the location of a huge petrochemical plant, which has been burning since Wednesday, Shana reported June 8.

Bou-Ali-Sina Petrochemical plant, located in the strategic Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (Petzone) in Bandar Imam was hit by fire July 6.

Iranian media outlets reported Thursday morning that the fire was extinguished, but the latest news, confirmed by officials claim a huge storage facility containing 20,000 tons of oil materials is burning, and there is no chance to extinguish fire until all the contents the of storage facility are burned.

No casualties has been reported officially, but Iran has evacuated four sites around the burning plant onJune 7.

Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant owned by Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) produces 1.75 million ton per year of aromatics and by-products.

Mehr reported that based on expert evaluations, the accident has already made $200 million in damages.
