IMF expects Turkmenistan’s GDP growth to hit 5.4 percent

Turkmenistan's GDP growth will be 5.4 percent in 2016 compared to 6.5 percent in 2015, according to the forecast of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The inflation in Turkmenistan will drop to five percent in 2016, as compared to six percent in 2015, according to the IMF estimates.

Turkmenistan's GDP increased by 6.3 percent in January-March 2016, the Turkmen economy and development ministry said earlier.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of natural gas and has opportunities to export it to China and Iran. Meanwhile, Russia suspended the purchases of Turkmen gas in 2016.
